A recipe to share!

Quickie Apple Slice

Mix 3/4 of a cup of melted butter with 1 packet of vanilla cake mix, you don't need a fancy packet just a cheapy will do! Mix together well and press into a dish (mines a 30cm X 15 cm lasagna dish) that has been lined with baking paper. Cook in a 180 degree oven for 15 minutes.
Mix 1 container of sour cream with 1 tins worth (bought or home made) of pie apple then spread on top of the base, sprinkle with some cinnamon and bake again for 15 minutes.
Let it cool a bit then refrigerate until its cold.
Slice it up and eat!

I do normally try and avoid packet anything (its part of my compulsive making of stuffs!) but hey, this is a quick and yummy recipe great for when you just need something and dont want to fuss! I am sure you could change the fruit to whatever you had and it would still be great.

I have a whole weekend of making stuff planned....pizzas...yogurt...bread...hot cross buns...nighties....

If you could make something, what would it be??

Yarn Along

Joining in Ginnys Yarn Along this week..... I am just about to begin the bottom band of Avalon Cardigan and then it will be DONE!! Yay!

A Tuesday Ritual of mine

I love living in a small town, sure it has its drawbacks, but generally its pretty great. Its great for children to grow up in a real community and be so 'known', always safe and surrounded by friends. It was one of the reasons I wanted to move from the big city out to the sticks, so when it came time for me to have a family they could spend their childhoods listening to the crickets, walking to their friends houses and seeing their school teachers in the supermarket.

But as an adult, sometimes it can feel a little....ah....boring? or plain? Sometimes it nice to have the fancy shops or a special place to go.
So when ASQ bought our little local nursery and butterfly house Skydancers and turned it into a super lovely cafe/nursery/gift shop, I was excited! Its a beautiful place to visit, nice coffee, gifts and plants, it also caters to children with the outside area having games like quoits to keep them busy. And another bonus, the staff are lovely too.

So every Tuesday some of us small town mums (and their preschoolers) get together, we call it Mums on the Move, in the past we have played basketball ( well you know, we gave it a bash!), netball with the Grade 5 school kids, a dance class but most of the time we go for a walk to Skydancers have a coffee and walk back.
Its lovely to take a couple of hours out of the week to do something social and for ourselves only!

If your in the area, do stop in for a look, you won't be disappointed!
Here's some pictures of yesterdays visit for coffee

You can check out what butterflies have hatched

and what sort they are...

this is the outside gift shop, the one inside is extra lovely....

My friend Fizzy found a butterfly wing (she wasn't really sad!)

Work by local artist Ben Smith for sale in the garden

room for the kids to run and play

Check out this sculpture.....some people are so clever!

An inspiring nursery to wander through

If you fancy checking Skydancers out on the net you can click here.

Maybe you can organise a walk with your friends to a local coffee spot, its always nice to have a chat don't you think?

A sewing corner re-do!

The space I have in our house for all my crafting is particularly small....I know this is a complaint of many fellow makers!
I do cross my fingers that in my future there is a lovely studio (lady shed?) surrounded by lush gardens that inspire me......(ok I'll stop dreaming now.....!)

In the meantime I will just keep at my little space, slowly expanding its boundries....
This time I went from this....
I do say I am an expert at making messes!

To this!
so neat and tidy!!

Its so great to have both machines next to each other, I was running between the kitchen and this room forgetting my scissors EVERY time!! It drove me crazy LOL. Now I just roll my chair between them both, I can even roll a little further and look at my computer :-D

The ironing board and storing of all the fabric I manage to collect, is still a problem
(along with being tidy!!).

Both tables are camping type tables, the larger is from Bunnings that we used for our market stalls. I bought the same thing but the folding version to replace it, making packing the car for market much easier.

Do you have any good storage hints you would like to share??

New gagets!

Well, I have ditched my iphone in favour of the Samsung Galaxy.
I did love my iphone (except itunes), I felt very special owning one, but this phone is way more awesomer!!!
For instance, this phone is all hooked up using google +, its now all connected to each other. That means my blogs and photos and all that stuff is much easier to access (and faster) even the photos I take on my phone automatically upload them selves they are all there and ready for when I need them. Oh and I love the voice activation too, its like having my own PA lol
I am sure theres many things I am yet to discover and I do love having a play and seeing what I can find.
I am hoping to find an app similar to instagram etc, that is the one thing I am missing about the iphone.
If you know of one please let me know :-)
This blog post was brought to you by the Samsung Galaxy on my back verandah with coffee and a biscuit!

Got the so so's........and the sew sews

some summer color!

Well, things have been very busy here, with everyone starting back at school and work (and all having to adjust!). I can feel that hurried feeling creeping back already......... argh!

The post holidays blues may possibly be visiting me at the moment (with the help of a dodgy thyroid!!!) so I popped these beautiful hydrangeas on my kitchen table to brighten it (and me)  up a little while I work.

I have been enjoying making nighties for little princess', they look so lovely and comfy!
This is Zara in hers......there is one the same in our Etsy Shop

How are you today??
