Thursday Garden Journal

I am joining in with Squiggly Rainbow this Thursday for my Garden Journal....its very cool timing actually. I can start this journal with the very beginning of my vegie patch!

Here is the bed, it has a lovely stone wall around it which you can't quite see.....All the crap will be dug out of it tomorrow, ready for some nice soil to go in!

Exciting!!

  2. After years of trying to work the patch, we decided to dig it all out and start again...so then I had to wait for Digger Man who is a friend....argh! I waited for ages!! Yay! today is the day!

  3. Love it! I think one of the best things about gardening is the thinking and the dreaming about what will be.

  4. How exciting starting a new veggie patch. It looks like a really good sunny spot.
I agree with Life in a Pink Fibro that thinking and dreaming is one of the best things.

  5. If you want a great way to create some good soil, get a crop, and get rid of weeds in your vegie patch try Peter Cundall's technique for growing potatoes - lots of manure and straw - we had amazing results planted straight over hard clay and grass.

    1. Hi Kirsty, any method that breaks up clay has got to be a good one!

We are lucky to have nice soil here but the vegie patch was chocka block full of cooch grass. Previously it had been an area flattened out for a childrens play area and had just been filled with whatever was about then topped up with a softfall type of material. Now that we have got rid of all the yucky stuff on top we find lovely soil underneath :)

I am keen to grow potatos in a different spot, I will have a look at his method, amazing results is something I like!!

      Thanks :D
